Happy Friday friends!

This week we wanted to share how we built TapShack from the ground up- no electricians, no plumbers, no painters, no.. nothing!  

We know what you’re thinking.. why on earth would you want to do everything yourselves? Wouldn’t you rather just pay to have it done right?  

Our #1 motivation was money- we did not want to go into debt through the process of opening this place up.  We wanted to prove to ourselves that you really can start a business from the ground up- without credit cards or loans. This made our process long and slow, but for us, it was worth it.

Another motivation was personal growth. We found that with patience, passion, and optimism, we were able to accomplish almost anything that we set our minds to.  We did not want any of this to be handed to us.  We wanted to use the gift of our own two hands to create something that was uniquely ours.  Once all was said and done, we had a few new trades that we learned in the process under our belts! This is what life is all about- constantly learning, growing, and experiencing.  

Sometimes we had to get really creative due to our lack of proper tools, etc. Our favorite story to share is when we had to get the carts out of Chris’ 93 Toyota Pickup. It was way too heavy for just the two of us.  So what did we do?  Chris had a bunch of water bottles in the back of his truck so he laid them down and literally rolled the 300 plus pound carts onto the bottles, all the way into what is now TapShack.  A bunch of busted water bottles later, we got it done!

Trust us, this process was not all sunshines and rainbows.  This was hard and free labor at its finest.  We ran into many obstacles and frustrations that challenged us to our core! We wanted to quit, we wanted to question ourselves, we wanted to cry- we did.  But the “secret” is to always keep pushing forward- to focus on a single task at a time- learn as much as you can about it and then accomplish the shit out of it.
